History
The Upsilon Alpha Chapter is located on the campus Huston-Tillotson University. It is the only Historically Black University (HBCU) in Austin, TX. The Chapter was chartered March 4, 1940 at Tillotson College in Austin, Texas. Algerene M. Craig was one of the charter members and the first chapter president of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Chi Chapter at Samuel Huston College. The Chapter now operates under Upsilon Alpha after the merger of Sam Huston College and Tillotson College merged on October 24, 1952 to form Huston-Tillotson College. The institution officially changed its name Huston-Tillotson on February 28, 2005.
